CRITIQUE ON ONLINE AND DIGITAL MEDIA

Progress in digital technology is driven by the human need to communicate. Advanced compression technologies allow computers to find, store and transmit massive amounts of information efficiently. Digitally encoded text, sounds, images and video can be stored together in magnetic media and compact disks and broadcast over cable to homes and over satellites to cellular phones.

Life used to be simple, over the course of many years; we would accumulate a library of tangible media. Books and music adorned our shelves, we stuffed our albums with photos and we acquired special containers that held our ever growing collections of cassettes, CD’s, Audio CD’s, VHS Tapes and DVD’s.

Our accumulation of all of this stuff brought with it storage problems. With the rising popularity of digital media evolve and music scores, digital photos and digital videos we have started to enjoy many convenience. All we need is update our computer hard drives to have easy access to our media from online sources. Digital Media does’nt wear out.
